Is this every mother’s worst fear?

You often see the funny memes doing the rounds. I know I myself always hate seeing little ones tossed in the air for fear dad will drop them.

Well in this dads case, he did!

Richmond Football Club’s Trent Cotchin was dancing with his daughter Harper when things went a little bit wrong, OK maybe a LOT wrong!

When Trent proceeded to pick up his daughter and toss her in the air, on the second attempt, his catch failed miserably.

The video was posted to Brooke Cotchin’s Instagram yesterday.

“When you pop out to a dress fitting & come home to videos like these,” the caption read.

Oh dear! Poor little Harper.

Has your partner done anything similar?

  • Nice to see a da da taking time out with his kids! It wasn’t a bad fall…the best bit was the song is “I’ll be there for you”

  • Not my partner, me. He’s the responsible one. I’m the risk taker. He doesn’t know about this and never will.

  • I remember once being in a pizzeria. My brother-in-law was playing with his young niece and suddenly threw her in the air. Not high, not at all. But on the ceiling there was a mosquito machine, I am not completely sure how to explain it. It was hanging on the top of the table, upside down. The moment my brother-in-law threw the girl, she hit the machine with a leg I think and the machine fell down, with all the mosquitoes in it. Luckily the pizzas weren’t on the table yet!!!! ;-) It was something like this, long and hanging from the ceiling.

  • Hasn’t happened in our household but I have seen it way too often! Hopefully it’s a lesson well learned!

  • Luckily he sort of grabbed her on the way down and softened the fall. I hope he won’t try that again.

  • Yes, I bet father feels very guilty and upset ! It happened to my friend. She swung her child in the air and the child lets loose on the highest point and a trip to the emergency unit was required.

  • I think dad would have been most upset about it all.

  • I’m always convinced this sort of accident is inevitable.

    • I have never liked this sort of play …and that’s the reason why.

  • Oh, I hope the little girl was not too upset after that fall.

  • You’d think a footy player would be a better catch.

  • No – nothing similar – dancing stays on the ground!
