Hello!

It’s that awful feeling most women are all too familiar with. You’re having a loud laugh with your friends or joining the kids for a jump on the trampoline and suddenly, without any notice or control, the dreaded bladder leak strikes.

Many sufferers of weakened pelvic floors have resigned themselves to a lifetime of discomfort and panty liners. But it doesn’t have to be like this. Enter The PeriCoach® System. This is an easy-to-use home device and smartphone app designed to treat bladder leaks in women by strengthening the pelvic floor muscles through exercise.

PeriCoach provides real-time squeeze by squeeze feedback via Bluetooth technology to help women perform proper “kegel” (pelvic floor) exercises.

When we did a call out to our Mouths of Mums members to take part in the PeriCoach® 8 Week Challenge to improve pelvic floor muscles, the response was overwhelming. So many women shared their stories of how bladder leakage has made them miserable and were desperate for a solution.

What Were Our Mums Tester’s Symptoms (you may relate)

Sharon:
“Sometimes I don’t feel like I need to have a wee until I feel a wet patch in my undies, or I urgently need to go all the time. Was getting embarrassed and started wearing long tops when I went out…if I went out at all”

Kelly:
“Since having my daughter I have noticed that I have occasional light bladder leakage both at random times throughout the day and when sneezing/laughing.”

Steph:
“When I walk it feels like something is falling out of my vagina and it is uncomfortable and embarrassing.”

Rochelle:
“I have a prolapse which can be felt at the entrance of my vagina. Not only was I a little nervous about how it would impact intimacy with my husband, but my prolapse impacted areas of my life which I would never have suspected.”

Charlotte:
“I think I find the most embarrassing/ annoying is when I exercise especially doing classes at the gym I find that I’m constantly leaking. I then spend the whole class anxious it’s obvious so I always make sure I’m at the back of the class. ”

The Problem

Pelvic floor muscle exercises are recommended as the first-line treatment for urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. However, 50% of women do not correctly contract their pelvic floor muscles with verbal or written instruction alone. As a result, these women may become frustrated with their lack of progress and, ultimately, give up – opting instead to tolerate their involuntary urine leakage, often with the use of pads.

How The PeriCoach® System Works

PeriCoach is a device containing three biosensors, which is inserted into the vagina. When the PeriCoach user performs her pelvic floor exercises, the biosensors detect the strength and duration of each contraction and instantly send this data to the smartphone app via Bluetooth wireless connection.

What was your experience using the Pericoach system?

Charlotte:
“The alerts sent to my phone were so helpful in reminding me to do the exercises. It’s a great system- it also made me set the time aside to focus on the exercises whereas before when it was left to me doing it on my own….. Well I just never got around to it.”

Natalie:
“I loved watching the improvements. I did notice on days when I dropped off, my Pelvic floor strength would decrease off and I’d get frustrated, which was usually a good motivator for me to get back on track!”

Rochelle:
“The Pericoach app is extremely user-friendly and it only takes moments to set up your account and pair the device with your mobile. I absolutely LOVE the reminders from the app, as well as the coach/tips which ignite a sense of motivation as well as a feeling of not wanting to miss a day- the app does an excellent job of encouraging you to keep going to reach your goals. The actual Pericoach device itself is a perfect size, so it’s not uncomfortable at all and it’s really easy to clean. It even comes with its own gorgeous little storage case! And the battery life is amazing!”

Sharon:
“Was strange at first, but as the weeks went on I found the exercises easier to do, and was great having an app that you could use to see changes”

Did the PeriCoach improve your motivation to exercise?

86% of all testers said YES, the Pericoach did improve their motivation to do their ‘kegel’ exercises.

What impact has PeriCoach had on your pelvic floor issues?

Rochelle:
“My symptoms have dramatically improved! I noticed an amazing difference in my ability to control my pelvic floor and the need for less pad changes which has been absolutely incredible!”

Stephanie:
“I no longer feel like something is falling out when I am walking. I still have some anxiety around intercourse but it isn’t painful like it was beforehand.”

Sharon:
“Less leakage, can now sneeze without wetting my pants”

Charlotte:
“My bladder control has improved greatly”

Kelly:
“I found it improved my light bladder leakage, reduced my need to use the bathroom as frequently during the night and had an improvement on overall satisfaction.”

How did you fit the daily kegel exercising into your schedule?

Rochelle
It’s actually incredibly easy to fit something into my schedule which isn’t complex to use and the app even reminds you if you haven’t used it throughout the day so you can’t forget. Then once you start using it and seeing the results for yourself you just don’t want to miss a day. Remembering to use it before bed works out perfectly for me.

Natalie
I usually did it before work or after the kids were in bed! You can actually perform the exercises standing up or lying down with your clothes on so you find ways to do it discretely as you become more confident with it!! It really does only take 5 minutes so it isn’t difficult if you focus or try and stick to the same time each day.

Stephanie
Once I got my baby down in the cot, I would do the exercises while my husband was getting our toddler down for the night.

Charlotte
I made sure I did it when my toddler went down for his morning sleep.

Sharon
Before I got into the shower I did it.

What has been the most significant improvement that using the PeriCoach has made in your life?

Rochelle:
Emotionally I now know that leaking isn’t something I just have to accept because I’ve given birth seven times or just because so many people go through it- I don’t have to give up on myself just because bladder leakage is a common experience for a great number of women. It’s never too late to start looking after yourself, and I know that if I continue using the PeriCoach my pelvic floor is only going to keep getting stronger just like any other muscle in my body.

The physical improvements have been equally as amazing. I actually started leaking less whilst pregnant! Can you imagine that? At a time when I usually leak even more, I already started building my strength and my ability enough to be able to hold until I reached the bathroom.

Less pads weren’t just a positive physical improvement, but it had such a profoundly positive impact on my confidence- I could finally laugh out loud without the fear of wee running down my legs.

Kelly:
Improved confidence with the ability to control feelings of needing to go to the toilet.

Charlotte:
More confidence to participate in gym classes like pump and yoga.

Stephanie:
I feel more confident now. I can enjoy intimacy with my husband without pain or embarrassment.

Sharon:
Being able to wear whatever I want without worrying about leakage.

After this trial, will you continue using the Periocoach device, and why?

100% of mums said a resounding YES!

Rochelle:
I will never stop using the Pericoach, it is a life changing device which has empowered me to live and enjoy my best life

Natalie:
Absolutely, I think I still have some work to do and it will be an ongoing work in progress!

Charlotte:
Yes absolutely! It has given me so much more confidence and with another baby on the way I could use all the help I can get!!!!!

Would you recommend the Pericoach to other mums?

100% of mums said a resounding YES!

Sharon:
Definitely, if they have issues with weak bladders or pelvic floor muscles. This definitely helped with tightening and less leakage.

Rochelle:
Definitely!!! All women, not just mothers, all women need this life changing device in their lives!!! The Pericoach is probably the greatest gift you could ever give any woman in your life

Charlotte:
In a heartbeat. In fact, I have already spoken to numerous girlfriends about the system.

The Conclusion

You’ve heard it straight from our mum testers. The PeriCoach got a resounding two thumbs up, five stars and glowing feedback.

We’ll let mum-of-seven Rochelle have the final word:

“Thank you for giving me so much of my life back!!! I no longer have to feel nervous, worried or anxious about experiencing an embarrassing leak. I’m able to wear nicer clothes because I don’t have to worry about a thick pad being visible through my clothing. I can pick up my children without losing the contents of my bladder. I’ve even started walking again- without having to turn back because of a full pad due to the impact of walking. These are all extremely life-changing experiences and they are all attributed to the PeriCoach, and for this, I am truly grateful.

Thank you for enabling me to experience this amazing new lifestyle and giving my kids a happier, healthier mother who can be active and play with them without the stress of leaks.
