A newborn babies body was discovered in 17-year-olds bed. She told authorities she hadn’t realized she was pregnant before giving birth.

*WARNING distressing content

The teen’s parents called 911 about 8:30 p.m. Monday after finding the infant’s lifeless body at their home.

He was likely born 24 to 36 hours before being found deceased, according to the KSWB station.

The infant’s mother told investigators she did not know she was pregnant, and gave birth unknowingly.

The newborn, who weighed approximately 7.5 pounds, appeared to have been delivered after a full-term pregnancy, police told KSWB

He showed no signs of suspicious injuries.

An autopsy was conducted the following day, but a cause and manner of death has not yet been released.

Detectives are working with the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine whether a crime had been committed, according to KSWB.

No further details about the case were immediately provided.

  • It will be very interesting to see what unfolds with this story. Has a crime been committed or just ignorance?

  • What a sad and tragic situation. Sex education?

  • I\\\’m sorry, but if you are old enough to have sex, you should be old enough to be responsible to let your parents know what has happened. Granted she may have been in shock if the baby was still born as we do not know anything yet. But surely at 17 and giving birth to a 7.5lb full term baby, she should have known she had given birth – com\\\’on. Nobody has a painless birth of 7.5lb baby.
I feel sorry that she could not tell her parents.
I feel even sorrier for the little one. RIP Little Angel
Finally Im sorry for saying this but I think there is something suspicious about this.

  • It’s sad to read about stories like these, especially when not all the details (or most of the significant details) are released so the public jumps to conclusions. I feel for the family here but especially a teenage girl. And of course the newborn.

  • Such a sad story – and I feel for the 17 year old mother.

  • I don’t think this should have been published by any of the media at all until more details are known. It is possible she may not have known she was pregnant for a few weeks, perhaps even longer if she didn’t realise that movement was the baby moving around. Thyroid imbalance can cause delayed symptoms. For example I know a Mum who on calculations had not had her periods for 6 months. It was put down to fluctuating thyroid problem. I know another Mum who never skipped her periods at all. It was weight gain that first alerted her to the possibility. A lady I worked with had severe back pain for a couple of hours before she decided she had better go to hospital for the pain source to be checked. She wasn’t due for another couple of weeks so that wasn’t her first thought.

    • I agree. Now everybody is against this girl, but maybe indeed she didn’t know she was pregnant, and maybe the baby was still born.

  • There isn’t enough information in the article, but I can’t help but feel that the 17 year old must face consequences for the death of this baby.
