Hello!

LOL Dolls are created to surprise kids with their multitude of wrappings, parcels and accompaniments. But this time the parents got the surprise (or shock) when they discovered that the new boy LOL surprise dolls come complete with male genitals.

Parents have shared their dismay on social media saying that the accurately depicted genitals make the toys not “age-appropriate” for children.

Mums and dads are surprised that the male dolls come equipped with a sculptured penis and testicles in the genital area, while the girl dolls just have a hole.

Inappropriate

One mum commented on Facebook: “Very inappropriate for a toy that states ages 3+. We won’t be buying anything LOL again,” as reported in the Sun.

“Considering the majority of your consumers are little girls, I suggest this change IMMEDIATELY. Such a HUGE fail; please keep the genital area FLAT,” commented another disgruntled parent.

It’s Natural

Isaac Larian, CEO and founder of MGA Entertainment, who manufactures the LOL surprise dolls has said: “All of our LOL Surprise boy dolls have been (and will continue to be) anatomically correct. We believe in the importance of clarity and authenticity with our products and our consumers, and this approach has been carried through all of our products over the past 40 years.”

“In the doll category, anatomically correct dolls have been available for many years. We currently have a notification on all packaging, and even on our web copy that states the LOL Surprise! boys are anatomically correct.”

“After all, human beings are naturally and anatomically correct. Do we want to fight the nature and give false impression to kids from early age? Parents can decide this and buy or don’t buy it.”

Not Offensive!

However, some parents think that the moaners are making a hooha out of nothing.

One commented in support: “Parents are offended by body parts? There’s nothing offensive about this, teach your kids proper terms and that yes, there ARE difference.”

Do you think it was the right move to give the boy LOL doll accurate male bits? Are you or your kids offended by this? Tell us in the comments below.

  • Doesnt worry me but its simple if it upsets you then take your money elsewhere

  • I don’t see a problem with this as kids need to learn somehow about the male anatomy so why not start with something simple like a doll to help.
Also, if girls have a brother then surely they would have already seen their genitals when they are getting their nappy changed.

  • I can understand why some people are not happy but l don’t find it a problem

  • Wow, I didn’t know this. Would still buy it. The outrage is a bit silly.

  • This is anatomically correct so I see no problem with it

  • Some are probably shocked by the sudden arrival of the new dolls.
Do people think boys don’t play with dolls? and girls don’t play with cars, trucks, tractors etc.??

    Reply

  • I think it is about time dolls are anatomically correct, it really must confuse kids when they see bits missing.

    Reply

  • Well they can’t very well have the boys anatomy the same as the girls

    Reply

  • I think its funny people are annoyed with this

    Reply

  • Oh good lord. People really need to calm down about insignificant things. If you don’t like it, but seriously going crazy over a BOY doll that has ( oh the horror) Boy “ bits” .

    Reply

  • I wasn’t expecting this!

  • LOL I think this is so ridiculous! If you’re going to have a toy be of a certain gender I don’t see the issue. You can’t wrap your kids up in cotton wool

    Reply

  • why are only the boys anatomically correct?

    Reply

  • Ridiculous. I have 2 boys and a girl and none would blink twice at this, as that’s how boys and girls are. You’re o my making it an issue for kids by making it an issue. Teach them properly, and it will always be normal. How crazy that little girls grow up thinking boys genital areas are flat like theirs ????

  • So cute. What’s wrong with true representations?
