Parents express shock over new $50 play centre opening in Melbourne

Parents have reacted online to a new play centre, which is in the process of opening in Glen Waverley, Victoria.

“Absolutely ridiculous prices. No way would I pay nearly $150 for my 3 kids to go to a play centre… You are not a theme park.”

A recent post shared by blogger, The Honest Mumma on Facebook has attracted attention after the entry price of the play centre was revealed.

“Rainbow Town Play Centre is now open and the kids are going to love it!” the post announced.

“Climb, bounce, swing, Ninja and more! There are 3 entry zones: Zones A – $38, entry Zone B – $28, Zone A & B $48.

Parents are in shock at the ridiculous prices

“Are the ball pits diamond encrusted for that price?” commented one person.

“The prices are disgusting. Only people with $$$$ can afford this. My son saw this post and really got his hopes up just to be disappointed again because mummy can’t afford an almost $50 entry fee plus lunch and petrol that $100 for a play center.”

“Looks like a fantastic play centre but I most certainly wouldn’t go for those entry prices,” commented another. “I’m a mum to three and that’s way overpriced. Plus then the cost of food/drinks on top of entry.”

“I’d love to go, but who the heck pays $50 to go to a play centre?”

“Wow why so expensive? How do you expect parents with more than 1 child to be able to afford that . Make the prices more family friendly .”

How much would you pay for a visit to your local play centre?

I checked and you can book for $35 for next wednesday. Perhaps prices have dropped but it still seems expensive.

  • Looks great! I think if I only had one child I would definitely look at taking her there. The price would probably deter a lot of people so it wouldn’t be flat out busy all the time.

  • Looks awesome but there’s no way i would pay $50 per child.

  • Way more than I would be willing to pay and definitely unaffordable if you have multiple children.

  • Yeah, that’s a ridiculous entry fee

  • Wow
The play centres in my area barely charge $15 per kid a even for a party to be hosted at the venue with food and a cake is still$25-$30 max

  • Wow! That’s outrageous. I can’t imagine a time ever when I would think $50 would be okay.

  • As with a lot of things they will charge whatever they can get away with. If people will be pay it companies like this can charge whatever they like and the little guys suffer.

  • I wouldn’t be taking my family of 4 to this park.

  • Some interesting comments. If you consider what it costs to go to a theme park for the day then, if you stay there for many hours, these prices are okay and there seems to be quite a lot of activities to do. Personally, being on a tight budget, I would never have taken my children to a place like this, the council parks were just fine for us. We went to a water based Theme Park whilst on holiday once and stayed all day to get the most out of our money. We took our own food which we had to eat at the car!

  • I can’t believe the prices. It’s what I’d call highway robbery

  • Wow! I will go if that’s a fee for an annual pass. :D

  • Absurd! I would pay a maximum of 25 dollars.
