Why being a Personal Training is a great career move for Mums

As a Mum, it’s a given that you wish to spend as much time with your family as possible. And if you still crave independence, a career and your own income, working as a personal trainer may be just the solution for you.

Benefits of Personal Training Career as a mum

The flexibility to choose your own hours and the control over how much you earn are the two big draw cards of a career in personal training for busy mums. You can choose to book clients around your availability, and there is no need to work at a fulltime schedule. You can also increase/decrease the client load based on your income requirement/time constraints.

Some other benefits of a personal training career for mums include:

  • Flexibility – choose your working hours
  • Income – work with as many clients as you need to
  • Diversity – no two days are ever the same
  • Reward – there’s no better satisfaction then helping others

Mums and Personal Training

Being a mum includes being a role model and a leader, and being a Personal Trainer is much the same. If you want to help others, motivate them, lead them to a successful goal achievement and inspire them to be a better person – think about the positive impact you can have on your own and others’ lives.

It is also a great idea to take on other mums as clients, since their schedules would match your own. You could run your own sessions before school, after school or even host a mums and bubs class – the options are endless.

Getting a qualification

If you’re interested in a career as a personal trainer, it’s important to gain a nationally recognised qualification. Gaining a nationally recognised qualification ensures you are complying with the standards set by the industry. Personal Trainers are required to hold Public Liability Insurance, and this will not be granted to someone without an industry approved qualification.
