Pink has opened up about suffering multiple miscarriages, the first of which happened when she was just 17 years old.

The singer – who is now 39 and shares two children with her husband Carey Hart – says that as a teenager, the loss left her feeling as though her body was ‘broken’.

“I’ve always had this very tomboy, very strong gymnast body, but actually at 17 I had a miscarriage,” she tells USA Today.

“And I was going to have that child. But when that happens to a woman or a young girl, you feel like your body hates you and like your body is broken, and it’s not doing what it’s supposed to do.

“I’ve had several miscarriages since, so I think it’s important to talk about what you’re ashamed of, who you really are and the painful s**t.”

At 22, Pink went into therapy to help deal with the heartbreak of her miscarriage and says it’s great at helping you confront uncomfortable and painful moments.

“What I love about therapy is that they’ll tell you what your blind spots are. Although that’s uncomfortable and painful, it gives you something to work with,” she said.

She also recently shared that she attends couples counselling with her husband, Carey Hart saying, “It’s the only reason we’re still together.”

  • It’s great when celebrities share such topics and show that they’re just like anyone else, human. I hope it helps anyone else struggling with miscarriage and to get therapy. Or even couples therapy for those partnered.

  • The more this is openly talked about the better new mums or mums to be will be. You never forget the loss of your babies through miscarriage no matter how old you are and another baby does not take away the feeling of hurt from the loss. Thanks Pink for being so open.

  • I just love her honesty. We could all take something from her. I’ve been in therapy and I too believe it’s valuable. I’m a talker, it helps me process things and therapy gives you strategies that are useful. I want more Pink, not less.
