Officers in the UK were called to a house after parents refused to allow their child to watch the British version of Love Island.

After their daugther caused a massive scene, they were then forced to dial 999 after being threatened with violence.

According to the Market Bosworth Police Facebook page, “An 11-year-old girl kicked off because she wasn’t allowed to watch Love Island,”

“Due to the information passed by the caller, this was risk assessed and graded as a “Grade One” – which means they attended as an emergency on blues and twos. True story.”

Some criticised the force for posting details of the incident. But the Market Bosworth account responded by saying: ‘It gives an insight into what we deal with everyday.

‘People often think it’s glamorous and exciting – like Police Interceptors. It’s important that the public know what we actually deal with.’

Others were left shaking their head asking, “So what has happened to parenting? It’s bad enough to argue with your children about TV programmes but to call the police. This is the rubbish on TV that has got control of some of the public. Very sad!”

Recently we shared how a Mum-of-two is allowing her two young children to watch the popular show. Read her story here.

  • wow…. Insane that they felt they needed to involve the emergency services.

  • Absolutely horrendous what a terrible attitude this girl has.

  • It’s ridiculous that the world has come to this! My daughter wouldn’t dream of ever threatening me. All I can say is other behaviours must have been allowed by the parents in the past for it to get this bad- a child wouldn’t just skip from being respectful to violent with the snap of their fingers.

  • Wow, how did it escalate to this point? An 11-year-old watching Love Island in the first place?? Feeling so threatened by your 11-year-old that you have to call the police? That is so sad, but understanding if they felt there was no other option. Other issues at play here I imagine.

  • Whilst I feel sorry for the parents handling a hormonally enraged girl. Ringing 999 (really!). They probably need some help with her as when she gets older the problems are going to get worse than watching a tv show. I do understand them not wanting to watch that but her reaction is horrible. Perhaps she has been overendulged and got her way in the past. I wish the family peace and hope she doesn’t hurt her parents emotionally anymore.

  • I hope the parents get the help they need to learn ways to deal with their child. We don’t know the full circumstances of it, only what has been written. Behavioural challenges can be frightening, some children go into violent rages that even an adult can’t physically manage!

  • It is possible that this child caused a real out of control threat to her parents because she didn’t get her way. The child might have a condition. Anyway a concerning situation.

    • I agree and community police work and prevention go hand in hand.

  • Dreadful that this child was threatening violence and possibly calling the police calmed the situation. The parents must have felt quite threatened to have called the police!

  • Meanwhile real emergencies are happening that are not being met.

  • Have never watched this show but do hope this child was grounded to her room for quite a while with NO TV after this incident.

  • I hope she’s watching even less TV now.

  • I’ve always thought the Bachelor and the Bachelorette were total rubbish, degrading and demeaning, then Love Island appeared. Hard to believe it is way worse!

    • I agree really feeding the way society expects people to behave, these shows should be banned.

  • I really hope my kid never behaves bad enough for me to call the police.

  • I have no idea what that show is but I have high beliefs that it is rubbing. What a waste of the policemen’s time.
