I’ve always had this as a staple in the pantry but am disappointed now. They have changed the tin size down to 340ml where the recipes i have used for years used the old size. The tins now have that ridiculous ring pull. I used to take the whole lid off to mix in cornflour when thickening, and the tine always needs a good stir, which I can’t do through that little hole.
Worst of all a Mum in a comment below just pointed out that is is made in Mexico now! Why? So disapointed. I’ll be searching for a substitute.
I always gave up can of this in pantry. I use it instead on cream in my pumpkin soup and in cakes instead of milk. It adds a nutty flavour to the soup and gives cake a nice texture.
I’ve been purchasing Carnation evaporated milk for several decades. It’s the basis of a delicious dessert that I regularly make. However, the new version is vile. They have changed to a smaller can; but the real issue is the taste and the fact it simply doesn’t beat like the old version. I actually thought I must have had a bad batch and purchased two new cans from another shop and tried again.
This is a terrible product and I won’t buy it again.
Also, as an addendum, why are we importing canned milk from Mexico? It doesn’t make sense.
I was a loyal customer but I won’t ever purchase this product again.
We’ve used this product for years as it was made in Australia and made the coffee taste creamy. Since the change to the ring-pull – and now made in Mexico – the milk has gone really watery but by the time we get to the bottom of the can it’s falls out like cottage cheese and no amount of stirring can get it to a normal consistency. What used to be a tried and true Aussie product has fallen by the wayside and we will sadly not be buying Carnation Light Evaporated milk anymore.
The tin was reduced in size and now had a ring pull top. But the real shock was the change in taste, colour and consistency of my previously favourite product. I was able to compare and contrast a tin I had from about 3 months ago to my recent purchase. It was initially made in Australia from at least 99% Australian ingredients, the latest version is made in Mexico and no mention of any Australian ingredients. I am furious about this sneaky change and it is disgusting and ruins my coffee.
My weekly shopping frequently includes a Carnation Light & Creamy Evaporated Milk, as I love my home made custard, upside down puddings and white sauces. Being light milk means you can be indulgent just that little more.
I can’t really tell the difference between this and the regular, I like using this as cream replacement for savoury to save on the calories including in things like pumpkin soup and bosciola
If it’s the light version, then it can be a bit healthier but moderation is key for this when adding into dishes. Can be used in desserts and savoury meals as well.
It has the same flavour as “ordinary” Carnation Evaporated Milk but needs the fat content for some recipes. I tried to make a recipe similar to home made icecream but I couldn’t get it to whip properly
Carnation Light & Creamy is always on hand in our household. It so versatile in cooking, and absolutely perfect on fruit cake or hot chocolate pudding!
I love how handy this is to have in the cupboard. I find it to be a great replacement for cream in many cooking dishes. It’s not the exact replacement but very handy if you don’t have cream on hand. I really enjoy the taste.
I always have Carnation milk in my pantry. We use it in place of cream on top of a lot of hot desserts. The taste is different to cream, but still yum. With the bonus of being cheaper then cream and also lasts longer in the cupboard
Carnation Light & Creamy Evaporated Milk is a great brand you can trust it in your kitchen for the cooking results . The taste amazing ???? I really recommended
This is a trusted brand product that has designed a light yet creamy version of evaporated milk. So handy for cooking. It can be used in coffee as well instead of milk. lovely product
