I bought this for my son to try since I wanted a low sugar option and he didn’t like the taste and neither did I. Not sure what it is but it just didn’t quite hit the mark on flavour.
Our family love cheerios – great flavour, size and texture. It was awesome to have a lower sugar version, nobody noticed a taste difference, just as delicious.
I really liked these as a finger food for my little one, as they had added iron and low sugar. Then one day, they suddenly disappeared. I wonder if I was the only one buying them at my supermarket? I’d buy them again if they came back.
I used to buy these a lot as they seemed to be quite a good cereal for the whole family and my kids even took them as snacks to nibble on in the car or to school. I was highly disappointed to find that I can find them in my supermarkets anymore. I’m not sure if they are still being made, but I wish they would bring them back and I would continue to buy them. So many cereals these days are so high in sugar.
I was shocked when I moved from North America where Cheerios came in the honey coated and plain version (actually just oats not assorted grains) … I loved the unsweetened oats and was astonished that they were not here. Although these are not quite as good as the plain oats version they are still enjoyable. The sweetened version on both continents are inedible for me. You can add sugar, but you cant take it away. I have consumed several boxes of the low sugar Cheerios and accidentally purchased the regular. Into the bin they go.
I know their healthier but I didn’t like the bland taste. I could eat them no worries and they had an ok flavour and a good crunch and as a traveling snack their ok but for breakfast I need something that gets me up and heading out and this just isn’t it.
This product has a 4.5 star health rating. Thats pretty good. There are not many with 4.5 stars. And some cereals that I thought were healthy are not rated as high…often because of the salt content.
I recently tried the reduced sugar version. At first i could taste the difference and thought i prefered the standard cheerios. But after a couple of days I don’t notice the difference in taste and happy to reduce my sugar content.
