I have baked this for my daughter since she was a little girl and still do it now. She loves it.


Ingredients (serves 6)

  • Butter
  • Nutella
  • 8 slices Bread
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1/4 cup Caster sugar
  • 2 & 1/2 cups Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla essence
  • Icing sugar

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 160 celsius. Butter bread and spread with Nutella. Cut off crusts and cut into 16 triangles. Arrange triangles in a baking dish.
  2. Whisk eggs with caster sugar, milk and vanilla essence until combined. Pour mixture over triangles.
  3. Stand baking dish in a larger baking dish with enough boiling water to come halfway up the side. Bake, uncovered, for about 1 hour or until custard is set. Sprinkle with some icing sugar and serve.


  • Never thought to add choc hazelnut to it, very modern

  • My kids won’t eat Nutella so I wonder if they could tell what it was. love bread and butter pudding was always my fave but no sultanas!!
