You won’t want to go back to store bought pizza bases after trying this easy and delicious home made pizza dough recipe. By using Ansell food handling gloves you don’t even need to get your hands dirty while making it! Enjoy with your favourite pizza toppings.

Ingredients (makes 2 Pizzas)

  • 2 3/4 cups Plain flour
  • 7g Yeast
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 1/4 cup Warm water
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil

Method

  1. Place 1/4 cup of the warm water in a large warm bowl. Sprinkle with yeast; stir until dissolved. Add remaining water, salt, oil and 2 cups of flour; stir well. Stir in enough flour to make a soft dough.
  2. Wearing your Ansell food handling gloves, knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 4 to 6 minutes.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover; let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour. Remove dough to lightly floured surface.
  4. Shape, top and bake as desired.

Notes

*This recipe makes 2 lovely thick pizza bases, if you like thinner bases I suggest using 1 cup of warm water and about 2 1/2 cups of flour.

  • This sounds easy enough. I have a pizza oven (which I won) so I’m sure the pizza dough will work well.

  • I used wraps as pizza bases as they are thinner and get crispier

  • Sorry, but I cheat and buy pre-made pizza bases or just use souvlaki/pita bread as a base.

  • Thanks for sharing this recipe. When I used to make bread I would put the bowl of dough on the back ledge of my car. It would rise really well
