A delicious, healthy alternative to store bought chocolates and a fun activity you can do with the kids this Easter.

Ingredients (makes 15 chocolates depending on the size)

  • 5 Tbsp Raw Cacao Powder
  • 5 Tbsp Coconut Oil (melted)
  • 5 Tbsp Ground Coconut
  • Vanilla Paste

Method

  1. Add all the dry ingredients together.
  2. Add in any fruit or nuts and stir, making sure to separate clumps.
  3. Mix in the coconut oil until everything is combined.
  4. Place in moulds and refrigerate until set. Alternatively you can create one large chocolate block, just remember to score it before it sets too hard to make it easier to break later.

Notes

Try adding dried fruit (Boabest Baobab Fruit Cubes finely diced make a delicious additive), nuts, peppermint essence/fresh peppermint, substitute 1/2 the coconut for finely crushed almonds... the options are endless.

  • I make something similar but use coconut butter instead of coconut oil, think the taste is a bit more royal because of that (add sometimes a bit of coffee or orange peel, peanut butter or nuts and seeds and indeed endless options and variations).

  • My mum used to make our Easter eggs when I was a kid. I have to say, even tough I resented ‘missing out’ on shop bought ones my friends got, mums tasted better. I still think that. Mum made the best Easter eggs. This one looks like a great recipe too. They’re so darkly delicious looking
