An extra thick and creamy smoothie.

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 1/2 ripe Avocado
  • 1 large Banana
  • 1 cup Almond milk
  • 2 tsp Cacao powder

Method

  1. Cut banana into large chucks and put in to a blender together with avocado, almond milk and cacao powder.
  2. Blend until smooth and pour into glasses (makes 2 large portions, or 4 smaller portions).
  3. Pair them with a straw and long handle spoon if desire. Add ice cubes if prefer thinner consistency.

Notes

This is by far the simplest quick and easy smoothie you can whip out in under 5 minutes, and the end result will make everybody happy. Best of all, you can draw your kids away from the fast food joints, they will come back for more and that's for sure. Sprinkle a little drinking chocolate to sweeten it.

  • What a delicious sounding choc shake alternative! Must give this a try ????

  • Must try this combination as sounds yummy. always have bananas frozen ready for smoothies. It hides them from the children.

    • It’s good timing when the banana and avocado are plentiful and not too expensive.
      Enjoy it. Missey :)

    • Yes you’re right, it’s really creamy and avocado brings so many good nutrients, you’d be happy to know the kids will absorb the goodness from this drink very easily. Hope you and your family enjoy it, Missey :)

  • I make a similar smoothie with avocado and banana and it is delish. This smoothie with almond milk sounds delish too. Will give it a go.

    • Wow, so glad to know that we are like-minded, yummy mommy. How’d your little ones take it?
I would love you to share your experience too. Missey :)

      • Definitely like minded and I love your recipes. My kids get more excited by fresh foods and in particular avocados than they do with other ‘processed’ foods. Banana and avocado together is loved. :)

      • That’s very interesting to hear, mom. I know an extremely fussy boy who just wouldn’t touch avocado and her mom had tried so many ways to hide it in her cooking. Things mom do to bring up their children is just amazing. Thank you for sharing, Missey :)
