These onion bhaji’s are a quick and easy dish that can be eaten on their own or part of an indian feast!

Easily made GF (we have made these GF) using GF plain flour.

Ingredients (makes 10 medium fritters)

  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (or minced garlic)
  • 1 tsp ground tumeric
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • 2 Tbsp oil for frying
  • 3 large onions

Method

  1. Combine the flour, garlic and turmeric in a bowl and make a well in the center. Add the egg and enough water to make a thick batter (similar to pikelet batter).
  2. Heat the oil in the frying pan and fry off the onions until they are soft and golden brown.
  3. Heat more oil in the pan and drop spoonfuls of the mixture into it. Only cook four at a time. Fry until golden on each side then drain on paper towels and serve.

  • I am taking it that the fried onion is put into the batter before cooking or is the batter poured over the onions? have wondered how this are made.
