Ideal to whip up when friends drop in unexpectedly. Quick and easy and always a hit


Ingredients (makes 12 scones)

  • 2 cups Self Raising flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 ounce butter
  • 3/4 cup milk and water

Method

  1. Sift flour and salt into a bowl. Add sugar and stir in
  2. Rub in butter with clean hands
  3. Add nearly all the liquid, Mix with a knife until combined ( add all the liquid if required)
  4. Tip onto a floured board and knead gently
  5. Roll out to approx 2-3 cm thickness. Cut in to rounds and place on a paper lined oven tray , just touching
  6. Bake in a mod (180) oven until lightly golden and have a 'hollow' sound when tapped
  7. Line a basket/bowl with a clean tea towel an loosely wrap the warn scones for a few minutes before serving with jam and cream or butter and cheese

Notes... This is a great recipe .. It never fails Enjoy!
