Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup spinach, roughly chopped and washed
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, finely grated
  • 1/2 cup gram flour
  • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/3 cup water


  1. Heat the oil on medium heat in fry pan.
  2. Mix all ingredients with water (you might need to add a little more water to get the right consistency).
  3. Spoon out the better in the pan to the desired shape and cook on medium slow heat until its golden on one side then turn and do the same for the other side.
  4. You can make multiple fritters at a time depending on your pan size. Serve hot with any sauce.

Notes... This is our family favourite.

  • The chilli powder in this will give it a nice zing!

  • oh yum! this is a good combo of ingredients but not one that i would have thought about combining! this seems really good though and i just have to try it out! i think that the spinach and cheese will be lovely!

  • These look so nice and simple.I would probably leave out the chilli powder as i cant eat spicey foods.

    • you can leave the chilli powder or add just a pinch won’t much spicy as i’m also not a chiili fan but just a pinch wont burn your tongue
