These vegan chocolate protein balls are my version of the popular bliss ball. They are nutritious treats that are delicious too!

Ingredients (serves 20 | makes 20 balls)

  • 2 1/2 Cups Chopped dates
  • 1/3 Cup Peanut Butter
  • 3/4 Cup Maple Syrup
  • 2 scoops Sun warrior chocolate protein powder
  • 1 Cup Raw Cashew nuts
  • 50 grams 70% cocoa Lindt chocolate
  • Coconut for rolling

Method

  1. Soak dates in boiling water for 10 minutes then drain.
  2. Mash dates with peanut butter and maple syrup until no chunks remain. Mix in protein powder.
  3. Blast the cashew nuts in the food processor or Vitamix until they are small even chunks and mix into date mixture. Grate the chocolate and mix into date mixture.
  4. For best results leave this in the fridge for at least 1 hour before rolling into balls. To roll into balls take heaped dessert spoon of mixture, roll into ball and then roll into coconut. Store in the fridge.

  • This looks like a good option for my vegan friend!

  • A lot of bliss balls are vegan. I would leave the maple syrup out as it has already 2,5 cups of chopped dates; keep some soak liquid if more moisture is needed

I love when things are vegan.
If my body allowed it, I would be vegan.

  • I love a good protein ball. They’re so expensive to buy though. Fantastic recipe. Can you freeze them I wonder?

  • Nice idea to use your protein powder. I am pretty sure we can omit it

  • I don’t think I’ve ever used protein powder in making something or baking something before. Can the whole family eat it then? Including the kids?

  • These are very sweet with dates, maple syrup and Lindt chocolate. Personally I find that when you make the balls with just dates as sweetener, it’s sweet enough.
