This slice recipe is nut and egg free PLUS there is no extra added sugar so it makes a great morning tea slice for school or sports. It is easy to wrap and freeze in portions.

This is a great slice recipe for the kids to help make! And once they’ve tried this, they’ll be ready to dive into the overnight Weetbix sensation!

Ingredients

  • 4 Weetbix crushed  (1 cup.  I save the bits in the bottom of the packet)
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut
  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • 2 tablespoons Milo or cocoa
  • ½ cup sultana
  • 1 tablespoon chia seed
  • ¾ cup water
  • 125g butter

Method

Preheat oven 170 degrees fan forced.

Add the Chia seeds to the water in your cup (or whatever you are using) and stir it. Leave the seeds to become gel-like whilst you make the rest of the slice.

Mix together in a large bowl your Weetbix, Coconut and Flour.

Stir through the Milo and Sultanas.

Melt the butter in a microwave or stove and then tip into dry ingredients.

Add the Chia Mixture and mix well.  I use my hands to mix up to make sure it’s well combined.

Pat firmly into a baking paper lined tin and bake at 170 degrees Celcius for 20 -25mins

  • A healthy looking slice for everybody.

  • Yum! That looks great. And it should be plenty sweet enough with the milo, coconut and sultanas too. Sounds delish!

    • It is definitely sweet enough with these ingredients.

  • I’m going to try this with the new gluten free weetbix and use cacao instead of cocoa for an even healthier option!

  • So glad I found this healthy snack recipe. We switched to porridge for breakfast for these cold winter mornings and the Weetbix is just sitting in the pantry.

  • Weetbix, sultanas and milo all have sugar in them. I have watched Milo being made in their factory.
Another recipe printed on the Weetbix packet many years ago didn’t have fruit in it but It had marshmallow on top. It was too sickly sweet
