It has been reported Police have rushed to the scene of a high school stabbing on the Gold Coast.

The 15-year-old victim, believed to have been in an incident with an ex-student, has been taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The same school, Miami State High School, has already been involved in a similar incident earlier this year with a lockdown in January after a student made shooting threats.

Update 25 Nov 11am

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm. It is believed the incident occured after a Facebook feud.

Friends told The Courier Mail the stabbing was due to an feud that began with a spat on Facebook.

The boy remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital after undergoing surgery following the attack yesterday 200 metres from his school.

Detective Inspector Mark White said: “We definitely are concerned about this level of violence on the streets so close to a school.”

“There are other ways to mediate issues without resorting to violence and in this case, extreme violence.”

  • Isnt it sad that so many young people have such anger inside them?

  • Unbelievable. I honestly hope that we don’t see what happens in America with all the violence in schools and colleges here. All schools need to have compulsory safe online behaviour.

  • Why are more and more people resorting to violence? People seem to be struggling with impulse control, and I’m wondering why that is.

  • Hope the police get to the bottom of this and the school puts some restraints on their students for this to happen twice is just not right. Hope the victim recovers completely.

  • What a terrible thing to happen. Not something you would expect in a high school. I wonder if it might be linked to the hype surrounding schoolies, that’s just kicking off up there

  • This is disgusting!

  • What a terrible incident to ever happen – let alone at a high school where our children are meant to be learning in a safe environment. How horrible for everyone involved, and what a tragic way to round out another school year.

  • Devastating! I hope they will do a proper investigation!
