A Kmart employee has caused a stir after she shared rumours that Kmart were considering bringing out their own range of minis.

The woman claimed there’d been talk of recreating some of Kmart’s iconic homeware range as minis, according to New idea.

Meaning that chairs, wall art, bar stools, plants and furnishings could be hitting our homes in a teeny-weeny format.

While the woman didn’t share any specifics of the Kmart collectables, she did say that staff were ‘excited’ by the idea and ‘everyone’s been talking about it.’

No doubt the promotion would be just as popular as the Coles’ Little Shop and Stikeez promotions and Woolworths’ recent Disney Tiles drive.

Facebook responds

The reaction on social media was quite surprising.

Many people were excited and had no concerns about doing a bit of extra shopping to collect a mini set of homewares. While others were angered that it was yet another lot of plastic crap we really didn’t need.

“Great just what the world needs more plastic meaningless shit useless parents will give their kids tho chuck in the oceans, well done, said one comment.”

Another agreed, “More plastics for our dolphins and turtles to choke on .”

Meanwhile others got excited saying, “Looks like I will have to go their a bit more now!”

“Ooooh teeny tiny utencils and stuff would be AWESOME!!!”

“Like I need another reason to spend money.”

What would you love to see in the collection?

  • I’m a bit over it, all this copy cat and useless stuff.

  • I can see how this would take off just as the woolies & Coles collectables have been. Mix of negitivity and people keen on them before announced, then most people collecting when it starts. Each to their own I think – if your interested then collect for yourself or your kids & if not then don’t! Everything comes down to marketing and getting more customers to spend money these days.

  • Not something I’d be interested in but I can imagine many who will.

  • I’ve never lived close to a Kmart before now. Love them or hate them, it is an effective marketing technique.

  • I think there is enough minis out there, we don’t need any more

  • I don’t collect anything and, when shopping, if I am offered them I will give them to the next person I see who does collect for their children. They would be great for little ones who have a dolls house I suppose.
