Two teenagers have been charged with attempted aggravated armed robbery after they allegedly used a knife to hold-up a school canteen.

The Kalgoorlie Children’s Court in WA has been told the 13-year-old boys went to the South Kalgoorlie Primary School canteen on Wednesday and stole a 40cm knife before using it to threaten a woman working in the shop.

ABC news reports, Sergeant Nick Coombes said the boys attend a nearby high school.

He said the offenders were unsuccessful in stealing any money, but left with the knife.

They have been remanded in custody and are expected to appear in court again later this month.

  • They were unsuccessful and have been caught and it is good for the community. Most canteens are pretty safe places.

  • What do you do with these young delinquents?

  • Being at a school the lady may be a volunteer. As a result of some “teenage criminals” this school canteen incident may result in losing volunteers whose dedication helps raise profits to benefit the school with purchases that improve kids lives.

  • Its shocking to hear this kind of stuff is happening all over Australia (the world infact) but when it is in the same town that you live in is scary.
To know these kids are just that and that – Kids. 13 years old and choose an act such as stealing a knife and then to threaten an adult … what they did is sickening.
Also knowing that it happened at a PRIMARY school is what gets me :'(

  • Unbelievable what is our world coming to, so sad not only for the staff but that children that young have either had that behaviour modelled to them or see it as acceptable.
