Mums like to keep looking fresh and radiant, even when busy looking after the kids and the rest of the household.

Keeping the skin looking bright and youthful requires a good skincare routine, and in some cases, a cosmetic surgery treatment to give the skin an extra boost. So, which cosmetic surgery treatments are good options to pamper your skin?

The Mini Facelift

When the facelift is mentioned, a lot of people think about celebrities who instantly look twenty years younger. Or maybe you think about the extreme cases where too much cosmetic surgery has impacted someone negatively? The mini facelift is a prime example of how cosmetic procedures have evolved to provide more natural results with minimal interference.

The mini facelift is a procedure that is used to address sagging skin on the lower half of the face. Sagging skin can occur for a number of reasons; this may include loose muscles underneath the face. During a mini facelift, those muscles are tightened to provide a sharper and more youthful face.

Naturally, not everyone will benefit from a mini facelift. Most people who have this procedure will have a visible amount of sagging skin in the lower half of the face, which may include some wrinkling of the skin as well.

Erbium Laser Resurfacing

Not all cosmetic treatments are surgical in nature. For example, if you are too young for a facelift, but still want to give your skin a boost, you could look at non-surgical alternatives such as erbium laser resurfacing.

Erbium laser resurfacing is a procedure where the cosmetic surgeon will reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles through the use of the erbium laser. The laser can also be used to address skin problems such as acne scarring and pigmentation.

An erbium laser will target specific layers of the skin; this means targeted “damage” is caused to that area. By effectively damaging the skin, the body’s production of collagen is enhanced. As you may know, collagen makes your skin smooth and flexible. Therefore, fine lines, wrinkles, and even skin problems can be reduced by applying this technique on a treatment area.

Eyelid Surgery

Certain areas of the face may require more pampering than others. One of the areas that is commonly impacted sooner by the natural ageing process is the eye region, which is often plagued by fine lines and wrinkles. In some cases, it can also involve excess fat in the upper, lower, or both eyelids.

When someone has excess fat and skin around the eyelids, it could cause an obstruction in the field of vision. It also makes the patient look considerably older than they really are, so the removal of such fat and excess skin is focussed upon during a blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery.

The Fat Transfer

Excess fat in the face is not always a problem, because your skin can also appear older due to a loss of volume in the face. As we get older, it is not uncommon for the cheeks to appear sunken. In these cases, a fat transfer could reintroduce fat into the face and give your skin a pampering from the inside.

During a fat transfer, a cosmetic surgeon will harvest excess fat from another part of the body. The fat is treated  through a special filtering and concentration process, after which it is reintroduced into the treatment area. Fat is commonly used for its anti-ageing benefits on the face, but it can also be implemented in other locations such as the hands.

The DermaSweep

Another non-surgical procedure that could provide your skin with the ultimate pampering experience is the DermaSweep. The DermaSweep falls under the category of medical microdermabrasion treatments, which remove the outer skin layer to reveal better and healthier skin underneath.

The DermaSweep can be used for other benefits relating to skin health. The treatment has shown to increase lymphatic drainage, oxygenation, and even increase the amount of nutrients that can be delivered to the skin. So, patients will encounter healthier and more radiant skin after such a microdermabrasion treatment.

Surgical Versus Non-Surgical

There are many treatments that can provide skin pampering these days and your choice will depend heavily on the problems you are trying to fix. Of course, every surgical procedure should be considered carefully, and a good cosmetic surgeon can certainly provide you with the information you need. Dr Lanzer warns all surgery has risks and to seek a second opinion.

  • no surgery for me. No way would I actually pay someone to put me through that.

  • The non surgical definitely isn’t cutting it (haha), but I’m not entirely sure I’d voluntarily undergo any type of surgery purely for the sake of my looks, I’m too much of a chicken.

  • I’ve Started resorting to non surgical treatment for my skin now (laser and needling) as creams and serum just aren’t cutting it.
This is a result of not caring for my skin properly for the past 15 years.
Non surgical is non invasive and you can get some good deals for multiple treatments.
I’ll be teaching my daughter from a very early age to use sunscreen daily at the very least

  • Over 50 and my skin is saggy, wrinkly and probably sun damaged. I’m happy to try non surgical, cheap ways to improve things. I’ve tried a few things but haven’t found a magical fix

  • I hadn’t heard of a couple of these!

  • I didn’t realise all the things out there for skin treatment. I prefer to leave my skin alone. If people don’t like it then that’s their problem, not mine.

  • I never knew there were so many options. For me, I’m a country kid and not ashamed to let my skin show it.

  • I’m not one to have any enhancement or surgeries for the sake of vanity.
