My youngest daughter will be turning 18 in June, and has just informed me that she has invited some of her friends to her 18th Birthday party umm what party apparently she has organised the party herself and has now decided to let me know about it well at least I have a couple of weeks notice I guess. She said mum I will help you pay for it oh and there will be about 20 people only coming. Ok I have finally agreed and said it was ok but no more then 20 people. I now am wondering what on earth do I feed teens do I just have pizza or what.

  • Go for the pizza and save your sanity, teens love that sort of thing anyway.

  • Pizza is a great way that way all you have to do is order home delivery. I am sure you may want to supply some alcohol as well. If you feel like putting in a lot of work you can make party platters I have one type you can find in the recipe section. you can also cut up chickens and do a platter with them. Others to try are fruit platters and chocolate treat platters which you can bake all slices and make it with these. Otherwise a BBQ is always good as well or maybe a roast on a spit and make all your salads.

  • My daughter had her 18th at a hall, but the following year she decided for her 19th shed like to invite friends over to also celebrate that she was moving away to start uni. We had around 15 friends and they all were happy with finger food, they I brought out around every half hour. I also purchased a slab of bottled water and a few cans of soft drink, for those that weren’t drinking. It may also be a good idea to register the party with yourlocal police staion, this just lets them know whats going on in case a neighbour phones about excessive noise or if you do happen t get any gate crashers, they will be there in a flash if you call them.

  • Ask your daughter what they normally have to eat at 18th birthday parties or what she wants. She did say she’d help pay and I’d presume she would want to be involved in all the planning.

and yes pizza would be fine, saves trouble, but can get expensive. maybe do the frozen pizzas if money may be an issue?

  • Sounds like she has thought about what she wants lol. I agree finger food would be cheap and easy. Pizzas, spring rolls, anything cheap that can be just thrown in the oven quickly without fuss. Paper plates are probably a good idea at an 18th party to avoid clean up and breakage.

  • I’d ask your daughter what food she’s prepared to pay for! Seriously, though, pizza is easy. Also big bowls of pasta are filling and can be cheap.

  • there are the stock standard party pies and sausage rolls, as well as pizza, and the little triangle pastires

  • it is hard to surprise your kids like when they were little but on the up side she did let you know before they started showing up from both parties
