When I drive my son to school I comment aloud about bad driving of others (not to say I don’t do things wrong). The biggest thing where we live in the mountains is the fog and our council have even put up signs to encourage you to turn your headlights on in heavy fog. When I see a car coming towards us with no lights on I usually say “turn your bloody lights on you fool”. I have had to curb this habit as my son now says “turn your lights on you friggin’ idiot.” My lesson is be careful of what you say in the car because you have a little parrot sitting behind you, and he is very cheeky. :-)

  • So very true about watching what you say. Recently on a train journey another passenger asked my daughter what year she was in at school (year 3). She was then asked if her teacher was a bitch. She thought about it for a moment and then said “No, my teacher is not a Witch”. She hadn’t heard the word bitch before so chose the closest word she know. I was relieved she didn’t ask me what a bitch was!!!

  • Yep! Kids are brilliant mimics of the good, the bad and the ugly things people say!

  • Oh yes, and they’ll say it when they’re not in the car, too.

  • Kids pick up on everything even when you think they are not listerning. My back seat drivers always tell me when the lights have changed and ask me why i am not moving. Its hard to move till the cars in front have moved first……
