Hello!

I was doing my fortnightly shopping at Coles Chermside and the lady at the checkout said “you always have your children with you, no one to watch them hey?”. I told her, no, it’s only my husband and I, all our family live in the Seychelles. The thing is, when I sit and think about it, I made these little creatures, so in my mind they are my responsibility. I’m not saying that others shouldn’t let people mind their children, but as the lady at Coles said, some people abuse people minding their kids.

Boy, I would love a break. Our first time away from our first daughter whom is now 6 next month, was when she had a hip operation at 11 months of age. After that, it was when she started Prep last year. Miss cheeky bum, my 12 month old, I’ve been able to leave her with my husband for short spurts of 2 hours max to go grocery shopping.

I have had 1 lady insist on taking my 12 month old to watch for a few hours, but I wouldn’t trust her with a dog. A good friend of mine, whom I have grown very close to in just a few weeks has offered to watch the girls, and funnily enough I trust her to. I haven’t yet, as we’ve all been busy.

My break where I can sit and watch the world go by is once every 3 months and that’s when I go donate blood. Hmmm, maybe I should start giving plasma so I can go more often. Oops I have to cut this short, as my lil cherub needs her cuddles and sleep.

  • Lol, good for you to accept full responsibility for the little people you’ve created. I have a niece who went and had 6 kids then complained when the grandparents wouldn’t help out with caring for them. That’s so cheeky. If you can’t cope with 6 kids, don’t have 6 kids, simple!

    • Yes I tend to agree. If you can’t manage 6 children without expecting others to help, then you probably shouldn’t have that many.

  • I’m the same! no one to leave her with, so we didn’t. Her first time away from us was kindy. Prior to that I had 1 hour at the dentist when hubby was home from work to watch her.
