Hello!

We went to a sale yesterday at a big product store. All we wanted was the $600 lawnmower. Hubby was silly enough to mention he would like a surround sound/stereo system. Well, didn’t the salesman go into overdrive!? He convinced hubby to buy one, on special fir $2000. He neglected to tell us we would need this, this and that yo set it up. All up it cost $5300 :0 I went ballistic at him. All we wanted was a lawnmower! They are so pushy to get their bonuses, makes me mad

  • He was a good salesman and knows his pitch . Your hub is soft and who knows , maybe deep inside he wanted one and neglected to tell you the truth . Hope you enjoy the music and start a collection of your favourite music .

  • I would not be happy – but it does happen. You have to go with a firm plan and budget and just say “NO”. Hope you are ok about it – just make sure you use the surround system all of the time! ;)

    • It really ticked me off! The salesman was so good showing how superior the product was to our first choice. Hubby is hopeless when it comes to salesmen. I was continually ‘It won’t fit in our lounge.’ ‘Our house is too small.’ ‘We’ll never use it.’ ‘It’s not a stereo, didn’t we want a stereo?’ I think I was most upset that, once hubby decided on what he want, they then threw all the extras we would to get it going at us! It won’t get used much. Something the kids can inherit when we die, the salesman said it would last forever, it’s that good!

  • What an awful experience. But is your hubby ok with it? Probably he could still withdraw from the contract if he changed his mind, due to all those extra costs you weren’t aware of.

    • It wasn’t good. Hubby is wrapped with it all. And I’m left thinking we are stuck with this debt for something that will hardly be used. Our house isn’t even big enough to fit it let alone need it

      • That’s not nice at all. We don’t need things we don’t actually use in our house. :-(

  • Sales people are trained to be persuasive. It is very annoying though when the people you are shopping with engage with salespeople – once they start, you feel rude to leave . I treat sales people the same as telemarketing – hang up and move on. I have trained our 8 year old to do the same – and luckily, my husband is starting to do the same too. Sounds like you had an infuriating experience.

  • What’s more annoying is hubby is so gullible and too nice to say no! So we got sucked in! Well, he did, he doesn’t like it when I stand up and ask questions, nor did the salesman. But I do it anyway. I hate feeling like I’m being pressured and coerced

    • I agree – being pressured is not good and a bad sales tactic for you but good for them!
