Hello!

I’m probably a bit behind with the latest trends, especially in ‘superfood fads’, although I like to try and eat well and am interested in nutrition and keep an eye on what the news etc. is saying about health (they could easily turn us all into orthorexics!). Now I’ve just heard of something called wheatgrass. I’m still making up my mind on this one. Has anyone any opinion on it? ever tried it? had any good or bad experiences with it? how have you used it?

  • As a child I used to eat grass straight from the ground. I enjoyed the taste and would think wheatgrass would be similar. If you like lettuce and other leafy things that are green and sweet, then you may want to try it. I’d have it purely for the taste.

  • I have heard of wheatgerm sold in health shops but not wheatgrass.

  • I have not tried it but actually have some seeds at the moment that I am going to sprout (when I get around to it) as I believe wheat grass is good for sinus.

  • If you haven’t had it before, the best thing to do is to visit a juice kiosk and ask for a sample, most will be happy to offer you a little to taste.
I do it at home with a juice extractor with wheatgrass, carrot and apple which provides great vitamin-packed drink.
I will post my formula to the recipe section in this website soon, so stay tuned if you are interested to give it a go.

  • Recall having it in a drink at a juice bar.

  • I think it was about 10 years ago I had it for a bit – a shot in a drink I think it was. Can’t remember what it’s benefits were supposed to be but I still see them selling wheatgrass at the health food shops. Maybe give it a google if you get no answers here.

  • It was huge a couple of years ago,l have only had it in a health drink!

    • What sort of quantity? Should you notice anything different? I’ve heard it tastes bad so have only been sprinkling tiny amounts of the powdered form on curries (so far has made no difference but maybe you need it in the drink!)

      • In a drink, I did not notice much of a taste.

  • I think your use of the word “fad” is telling!
