Hello!

I was so proud and pleased to see so many children at the Anzac Day Dawn Service this morning. As a military family, it’s so important to me that my children grow up respecting the Anzac tradition. Unfortunately we have family members who don’t believe in Anzac Day which is quite hurtful considering my family are still serving in the ADF today. I just wanted to say a huge Thank You to all the parents who took their children to an Anzac Day Dawn Service or march today. Our military families appreciate the effort, support & respect.

  • I attend Anzac service every year. I think it’s important we never forget, we need to remember to stop it from happening again

  • Hubby and I are both ex military and neither of us get hurt of offended by people that don’t believe in ANZAC Day or don’t participate, it’s a free country and their choice.

I am not in favour of children marching in the parade and my reasons why are described in this article which raise some very valid points.

  • I found watching the parade quite moving and the amount of different regiments really took me by surprise. It is good that Australia recognise the people who sacrificed a lot for their country.

  • Totally agree. It’s all about educating the next generation on the sacrifices these heroes made for us, so that we can be here today.

  • more of the young Children these days are Marching and look forward to it but alot more now are going to Anzac dawn services as the crowds have grown so much. My Grandchildren march and they always ask my Mum for Great grands medals to wear. None of them have ever met him as he died 16 years ago and the oldest is turning 13 this year but they no all about him and his Army days and you hear them proudly showing what they have pinned on. I would just like the kids taught the meaning of what the minute silence means. We have educated ours about it all but alot do not know as much as maybe they should. We have behind us Army on my side and Hubby side was Navy except Hubby he was in the Army. I personally would like to thank all service personal for there service they have and are performing for us all.

  • I feel we should respect the Anzac’s everyday and not just 1 day a year. I too thought it was great that there were record breaking numbers at alot of the services. Will be taking my 2 to the 100 year anniversary service next year

  • I think there’s a difference between “believing in” ANZAC Day (which I have some issues with) and respecting the service and sacrifice of ADF members (which I do). Maybe clarify your family’s feelings?

  • Thank you so much for a lovely thankful post of gratitude. It is a great legacy the Anzacs left us- Life.

  • Amen. Unfortunately we couldn’t make it this year for several reasons, but I always look forward to ANZAC day. It’s a day where we can teach our children many lessons and teach them to show respect which I think is severely lacking in a lot of children these days.

    Lest we forget.
