Big breasts = breastfeeding sucess.

IF ONLY it was that simple!

Regardless of sitting with an “E” sizing, breastfeeding is not going as well as I would like it to be…

However it doesn’t stop me from hearing “well your baby sure won’t go hungry” anytime I go to buy a new bra or it comes up in conversation. Unfortunately none of us are guaranteed a sucess story with any size breasts and I wish people would stop assuming that everything is fine! I HATE breastfeeding so very much, I have come to expect constant pain throughout a feed and am always unsure as to whether he is getting enough as he always seems to be screaming and hungry and never manages to latch in a comfortable way.

I just wish people weren’t so assuming and would stop reading this book by it’s cover so I could get some real assistance.

  • I would be having a good chat with a health professional if I were you. You shouldn’t be suffering through breast feeding. And get them to check there is enough weight gain to stop you stressing over whether he’s getting enough milk. Please don’t keep on putting up with it

  • The baby health centres are generally very good with assistance in this area. Give them a try as they tend to be a bit more patient and attentive…

  • So true. I’ve got no boob but while breast feeding I had so much milk!

  • ‘Your baby won’t go hungry’? Who said that? That is so incredibly rude!

    • That is not necessarily true. I know of 2 Mums who had plenty of “milk” but it had no or practically no nutritional value in it. Both Mum’s Doctors took sample and had the breeastmilk tested. One of the Mums had more than one baby and had the same issue both times. Once they were swapped to the bottle, both gained weight and stopped crying constantly.

  • I had trouble feeding one of my twins and I was sent to an overnight centre where the staff helped me get it right. Have you sought the help of the professional?

  • This is so true! My best friend doesn’t need to wear a bra and has enough milk for the neighbourhood! You just can never tell.
