do people still blanch their fresh vegies. I do it when I is going cheap.like I blanch fresh vegies and you can save alot of money as well. I blanch things like carrots fresh beans cauliflower broccoli. I was just thinking do people still blanch or am I showing my age because I love to par boil and them in cold or ice water after you tip the water out using a colander once cooled just bag them up into portion sizes and they cook up just fine

  • I didn’t know I could do carrots, but I often buy veggies in bulk when on special or cheap from the local farmers market and blanch and freeze them

  • Hands up in the air…..I still do this. Buy veggies in bulk when on special and par boil then freeze. Have yet to work out if this is cheaper than buying already frozen products, but like looking for bargains and doing it that way

  • I thought you par boiled them then cooled them down quickly bag them up and freeze to use another time, it was done a long time ago to save money as they would buy a huge bag of say carrots and par boil and then freeze so they didn’t go out of date, and they always had frozen veg to hand
