Hello!

I was very fortunate to breastfeed all my children and I did love doing so. Things didn’t always go smoothly. With my first I had mastitis more than 3 times which wasn’t very nice. It didn’t seem to matter how vigilant I was in making sure I emptied each breast and checked for lumps. With my second the same happened and within the first few weeks at home I was admitted back into hospital as the Mastitis had got the better of me and I was in hospital for awhile on a drip and after trying to massage the lump it was decided that we try ultrasound and if that didn’t work I was to have an op to drain and remove the lump. Prior to having kids I had never heard of Mastitis and then after friends and family said you can prevent getting it and if you do you can massage the lump to loosen it and there was no need for antibiotics. That clearly didn’t work in my case because I went to the doctor as soon as I noticed something and I was ill within a few hours. So I do seriously wonder if some people are more prone to it? Because I knew how it felt to get it so I did everything to avoid getting it but it still happened. Any one had the same?
