Hello!

I thought it was time to share some funny stories with other mums. Goodness knows we can all use a good laugh some times and I have found it often helps the children to have a good laugh some times.

I thought I’d share with you a story about my 9 year old son, who often makes us smile or laugh. Late last term he seemed to be in a growth phase or something and was always getting angry or sad about things. I asked our school Student Welfare Officer if this was common to boys his age. She reminded me that at the end of term they often get tired and grumpy and suggested I wait to see how he was after the holidays. A very wise woman.

He was coming out of class and telling me his teacher was “stupid” for this reason or the other. I actually respected his teacher and asked him for more information. It would always end in me having an even greater respect for her and thinking how glad I was that she was his teacher. I tried relentlessly telling him that and explaining why I thought she had done the things she had done. He wouldn’t listen. We had a great two weeks together and he relaxed, got lots of sleep and went back to school looking forward to camp the following week.

When I picked him up from camp one of the first things he told me was how he now understood what I meant about his teacher being a really good teacher. Pleased at his new found respect for his teacher, I was imaging all sorts of things: had she explained the theory of relativity to him, had she scaled a cliff face, had she sat down and had a heart-to-heart with him, had she turned into some sort of female McGyver, had she explained the meaning of life to him?

No, she had simply been the one to set up the safety line that the children weren’t to cross during archery!!!
