Hello!

I’m struggling finding the right way to juggle childcare with my rotational shift work, but I have found an awesome solution! I came across Clann and they seemed to really figure out how to solve the childcare crisis. The app will connect families with SAFE and AFFORDABLE hosts near you. Ready to look after your kids at the click of a button. Anytime, anywhere. Your choice of carer, your choice of location – your place or theirs. But they need YOUR HELP to make it happen!

The best part is it can also help parents get back into work, as you can join Clann as a childcare worker as well.

Check out their website and register your interest. Let others know so this can happen now! I need this so badly and I’m sure many other families do too!

  • Is it government approved – ie you could get Child Care Benefit? Even if you don’t plan to claim CCB, that’s an important safety check. They have to meet minimum standards.

    • I’m not too sure but you could ask them that on their Facebook page? I’m sure they’d understand why you’ve asked that. It’s a valid question.

  • I have a weird “gut feeling” about this but I have signed up to check it out. I sincerely hope no one has a criminal history and/or it is not an app to target families of young children

    • I know you can check the persons house first. Do a meet and greet kinda thing. I totally feel where you’re coming from though. It’s hard to trust a stranger. Especially when’s it’s their home and not yours. I think it’s good you signed up though, because you’ll at least see what it’s all about. I’m sure they’d have all these checks people needs to do to qualify. I still know what you mean though.

      • You should make sure they are approved to do this, have the qualifications, police clearance, appropriate insurance, question activities for your child, are they providing the food or are you etc. If they are registered properly you will be able to claim child care allowance. Their house is also supposed to meet some standards. (is in SA anyway).

  • It sounds like a solution for so many parents struggling with Childcare and work. I am hoping the people listed as carers are strictly checked! Not sure I would feel comfortable using them if they weren’t

    • Yeah I know what you mean. I was initially put off the idea because it was a bit concerning being a randoms home. Kind of like Uber! It looks like you can see the different qualifications people have and then pick who you want to check out. The website says they must have a working with children check and first aid. Not sure what else but I reckon you’d get people with additional education and a better background in previous childcare work potentially. So it wouldn’t be full of people just starting up for the first time, hopefully.

  • This could really help families indeed. You found something really interesting!

    • Yeah I haven’t seen anything else like this before. I really hope they’re successful and start operating soon. Otherwise I think I’ll be leaving my job and looking for a Monday to Friday job instead.
