Hello!

So about a week ago i posted a story about how my 7yr old was acting spoiled selfish and just plain rotten when it came to Christmas so we canceled Christmas.
As expected her behavior turned around imediantly but we didnt change our mind it wasnt until we all had a very bad day in which she had been extremely well behaved that we decided she could have a bit of christmas. then unprompted she wrote a note to santa apologizing for being naughty and she knows it was wrong. She didnt know she was getting presents from santa even after this but she kept up the good behavior and in the end we decided it was enough to get christmas from both mum and dad and santa although she missed out on having her stocking filled.

  • Writing the note shows that she had a chance to rethink her behaviour. Good work as a parent there

  • Well done, evidence of great parenting I think. Love the note. How considerate :)

    • Thank you so much that really means a lot. The only thing i know for sure about my parenting is is never make a threat I’m not willing to follow through on and never make a promise i might not be able to keep

  • Sounds like a good outcome. I wish more parents would teach their kids about being grateful. I was very upset this year with one young lady’s ungratefulness and its a shame more kids aren’t taught manners and thankfulness.

  • Glad to hear you all had a lovely Christmas. My son was similarly behaved prior to Christmas but he was well behaved enough to also receive presents on Christmas Day. This year we bought a Christmas present for one of the Christmas toy drives and I explained to my son that it is better to give than receive and that not everyone is as fortunate.

  • That sounds like a fair compromise. I think there has been a lesson learned here :)
