My poor baby girl has conjunctivitis, it is so horrible to see her so frustrated with her eyes. I am so glad they have the drops over the counter now and I dont have to go to the doctors to get a prescription. Her eyes keep gunking up. Does anyone have any tips to help her become more comfortable? We are trying to wash our hands as much as possible we as not to catch it or pass it to the other kids.

  • Conjunctivitis is a nasty infliction! When my kids get it, I’ve used the drops combined sometimes with a cream when it’s really bad. I also bathed them with warm salty water and cotton balls. Wiping from the inside out and only once with each cotton ball so you’re not wiping it back into the eyes

  • Make sure her toys are also clean too :)

  • Not really. You seem to be doing everything you can already. I’m guessing you bathe the eyes regularly in warm salty water? Wiping the cotton ball from inside corner of eye to outside corner, only wiping once with that cotton bud etc

  • poor darling, I used to squirt Breast milk into my girls eyes and then clean from edge to corner (towards nose) with a cotton ball that had milk on also. i still use it for my girl on cotton balls if she gets it, also could just try salt water to clean and lots of mummy huggles to soothe. good luck.

    • yes my baby nurses told me the same thing but it feels so crude to squirt milk straight into their eyes and they don’t like it!

  • Conjunctivitis is so horrible and her eyes should hopefully get better – if not go to your GP for ointment – we had too as it was quite bad. Good luck.

  • A particularly unpleasant thing for little kids.

  • I had my youngest grandson for 2 days last week because his kindy had an outbreak too! He was still his happy little self even though the eyes looked red & sad. He was good having the eye drops done & within 48 hours a huge improvement. Hope your little one is on the mend also.

    • My DIL had bought special eye wipes from the chemist as well to remove the gunk too!
