  • The same here! For ants we are finding that putting rock salt where the ants come out helps. And throwing some water on the salt, so it goes deep into the cracks. (I’m talking about outside the house)

    • Thanks for the rock salt tip! Will try this out today as we have loads of bull ants at the moment around the back door! They have even found their way inside! :(

      • Are bull ants the same as sand ants? Having them inside is really terrible. Success.
Put the salt outside the doors where they most possibly come in.

  • I do not like to use any chemicals and have never had my house sprayed. I do not like anyone to breathe in the chemicals pets, kids and adults. Would love some natural alternatives.

    • Baby powder around ant holes slows them down a lot – I have no idea whether this would work for earwigs. The same goes for pouring hot water into ant holes. Eucalyptus oil is also a good creepy crawly deterrent.

Earwigs like damp, dark places – try removing such places from close to your house – mulch etc and see if this helps at all.

      • Thanks for your answer! Will try baby powder and eucalyptus oil.

  • We’ve got so many millipedes at this time of the year. I don’t use any pesticide. I go around and pick them up! :-)

  • Its probably just the time of year and the warmer winter we have just had – I have barrier sprayed around doors, windows and around skirting boards and this seems to help.

  • I can’t cope with creepy crawlies either! I bomb the house regularly with Mortein insect bombs, the ones you set off and leave the house all closed up for a couple of hours. They are effective for a couple of months. Yes, it involves chemicals, but better every couple of months then every day for each bug
