I would like to ask where has the customer service gone from our stores? I went to buy lunch from a lunch bar at the train station on my way to work one day. I stood in line and was browsing to see what I wanted to for lunch. I finally made up my mind and waited my turn to be served. The people behind the counter kept serving everyone else around me. Every time I went to say what I wanted someone else would speak before I could get a word in edgewise. A lady standing beside me said you were next and I said “am I invisible or something because they keep ignoring me”. By this time I was so fed up of being ignored and them serving everyone else but me I walked off saying that the service was lousy and I would never buy anything from them ever again and I would tell all my friends about it to. I hate being ignored, I hate people pushing in front of me, I always say this person was before me if they were and let them be served. People are just so rude, impatient and have no manners these days. Does anyone else argree with me?

  • I’ve worked in customer service for 15 years now and I was trained along the lines of “the customers pay my wages”. But we’re not mind readers. Customers are rude. They expect us to stop the million things we have to do after we’ve waited forever for them to make up their mind. And we don’t know you’ve decided unless you say something.

  • This is the reason that some depts. in supermarkets have a number system.
I have had people jump the queue at supermarket checkouts too. Occasionally if I have a lot of groceries if the person behind me only has a few I will ask them if they want to go through ahead of me, especially if they are carrying them either in their arms or in a basket. As I go in a special assistance Council Bus, it depends how long before the bus leaves to take us home how many I let go through ahead of me. The bus has a timetable schedule. The drivers / assisitants are all volunteers.

  • I usually get good service and on the rare occasion when I do not get good service I do say something in a polite manner. Also, if I get served before someone that has been waiting before me, I say something as it is the right thing to do.

  • I think I would have spoken up and said something. Sometimes you just have to make yourself known, there’s too many rude people who will take advantage if you don’t

  • Sorry I do not wish to offend you and it is not my intention to be rude but I feel you should have spoken up loudly and stated excuse me but I am next and then loudly stated what you wanted for lunch. Yes there are rude people around and it is our duty to put these people in their place other wise they will keep on being rude and take advantage of others. Sometimes the poor shop keeper is so busy serving etc that they are simply not aware who’s next.

    • I agree with you and there is nothing wrong with being politely assertive and using a well mannered “excuse me”. Sometimes, other customers have no idea who is next to be served and if they do know they have to wait for their turn, it is only fair.
