You know when you’re a little kid and your dad says he’ll buy this for you, for His little princess? And for some odd reason you believe in him and know for sure that he’s going to do it. When we were kids we don’t reason out to daddy when he says things like that, “Daddy, where are you getting the money?” or “Daddy, can you really afford that?” We simply celebrate in advance because we know that no matter what, daddy will surely buy it. Why? Because he said so.

Unfortunately, when we grow up and the world introduces us to reality, we don’t get that secure feeling anymore. We become skeptic, nonchalant or even oblivious. We don’t trust what daddy or mommy says. We don’t trust our friends. We don’t trust the people who come to offer us his or her undying love. We question everything. We negate everything. In short, we trust nothing. We trust no one.

As we might have been deceived that nothing in this world is good anymore, and that dreams come true only happen in fairy tales, I’d always like to go back and even stay in the loving arms of my One True Dad where there isn’t only an abundance of good but an overflow of greatness; where dreams come true don’t only come with three wishes or a fairy godmother who disappears and reappears like smoke. With Daddy Lord, we come with unlimited blessings and the best thing is that He’s always and forever present.

While idealism is questionable to some, crazy to others and nonexistent to many, I believe I’d rather be idealistic than realistic. Reality in this world is that dreams are unreachable and that the best is no where. So we settle for less and just go on with the fact, the reality that this is it.

But in my world or whatever idealism some may call it, my Daddy Jesus wants me to reach my dreams, give me the best and shoot me as far as he good for His glory. And as His child, when He says I am able to do this, I believe I am well able to do so. When He says He will give me this promise, I believe I will receive it. Just as He told me a year and two months ago that He will not only bring me to my promised land Australia, but He will also go before me, so He did and not a single promise was broken. Indeed, He is a great, awesome, amazing Father.

Matthew 7:9-12 (New International Version)

9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

In believing that we have a good Father in Jesus, comes the responsibility of being His children. As our earthly fathers give us instructions, scold us and watch over our actions, so does our Heavenly Father who:

1. Gives us the Ways we must follow

Proverbs 13:1 A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke.

Galatians 6:6 Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor.

Exodus 16:4 Then the LORD said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.

2. Rebukes us when we do wrong

Proverbs 3:11-12 My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.

3. Disciplines us to teach us

Hebrews 12:7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?

3. Forgives us and welcomes us back

Psalm 103:13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him

Being a Daddy’s girl is not that easy at times. Times when God’s instructions seem to be difficult to follow but I do because I love Him and I know He knows whats best for me. But through those difficult times, I have the comfort to know that my Daddy is BIG, GREAT, ALL POWERFUL, FORGIVING and LOVING. Idealistic as it may seem, I love being Daddy Jesus’ girl.
