Hello!

My 3 year old daughter is more attached to her dad then she is to me. She can’t sleep without her dad putting her to sleep, she starts yelling and crying when he lives to go to work and when i leave for work all she says it bye mom, with a big smile on her face. This got me feeling unappreciated and unloved by my daughter, but then i realized that i went back to work quite earlier then i was supposed to.

After giving birth to her, i went back to work when she was only 1month old. Her dad however, resigned from work when she was 1year old and used to take care of her while he was at home. That’s why she’s more attached to her dad. But then that’s why i tell her everyday, that I love her, so that she’ll know that i too love her as much as her daddy loves her.

  • Girls are generally closer to their fathers anyway….that’s normal and while I understand how that makes you feel, just keep telling her you love her. As she develops, you will be the favour and it will swing the other way when she is going through the pre teen years. By the time she is a teenager she may not appear to like either of you HaHa. Just joking! But that’s normal too! It’s all part of growing up in today’s world. The good news is, it all goes back to normal and where it should be when they grow up into adulthood!

  • Don’t be dishearten I am sure she love you equally. My little girl even tell me that “she like her dad the best”. Even though we both work and spend the same amount of time with her, she is daddy’s girl.

  • I’m sure she loves you both equally, she’s just used to the fact that he is there all the time so it’s more of a shock when he goes.

  • it is only natural that she is closer to her Dad at this stage because of the early bonding, however it will all right itself with time, you have the right attitude.

  • Seems to be you have it worked out, I don’t read any jealousy which is great. I think you hit the nail on the head with yr partner being there at that time during the day. This is a phase, by giving her as much attention as you can yr doing all you can. I hope hubby is supportive during this time too.
