Hello!

I’ve just noticed that I seemed to have fallen into a bit of a rut with cooking dinner. Sundays have become roast night, followed with pies made on Monday with the left over roast. On Wednesday nights, pasta is often on the menu with pizza on Friday and a bbq for Saturday. I had no idea how predictable it all become until I made a casserole on a Sunday and everyone was like “where’s the roast?”

  • Thats funny…you are not alone. I was only talking to my father yesterday about the very same thing when he rattled off his weekly meal plan. IU am afraid I am not that organised and whilst I do cook almost every night, it is usually based on what I have thawed out or what I need to use first in the fridge!

  • I recommend a slow cooker! There are groups on Facebook full of recipes/ideas/tips etc and it is something you can chuck on in the morning and then come home to a delicious meal!

    • I love my slow cooker, especially in winter!

  • We’re all guilty of it – but it’s not so much of a rut as a way of managing shopping and cooking through the week. Planning ahead is a great time saver and it’s something we all need to do more and more as we have more and more time constraints to deal with. Shake it up a little with different recipes and flavours – pasta is great for this as the possibilities are endless!

  • Kids do love the predictability of set days and they do love it too! It does help with the grocery shopping to have set meals for set days We do have set days for meals; but also mix up the other days with variety. You could mix it up by varying the different types of roast, pasta, pies and BBQ food. :)
