Hello!

I spent my whole pregnancy being blackmailed into having no epidural by numerous people including family members, midwives, lactation consultants etc etc. However when it came to it I knew I wanted one so I demanded it (even though the midwife tried to tell me I couldn’t have one because it was the middle of the night0it was 6am!!!) Luckily I had a wonderful Dr who called up his friend to give me one. It was the best thing ever! It didn’t hurt at all, and meant I was completely calm and relaxed during my contractions and the birth of my daughter. I had an episiotomy and because of the epidural didn’t feel anything at all and could spend time marvelling at my new baby. I am all for people going without pain relief and think that they are very strong women, but I don’t like all the women who choose to use pain relief looked down upon.

  • O gosh good on you, It’s you ‘r body.
In my opinion, I think some people loose sight of what is really important. Epidural or not. Natural birth or C section. All that really matters is that they (the baby) gets here safely :)

  • I have never had an epidural, my first two were natural births but I did have a spinal block for the c-section I had to have for my third. Oh my goodness. If I had known I would feel no pain when they were cutting me open to deliver him, I would have uttered the four magic words, ‘I Want My Epidural!’

  • I agree with your comments about women not being looked down upon for their choices. It is the same with breast versus bottle. Everybody’s experience is different and every baby unique. I have very little time for professionals or otherwise who try and enforce their values and beliefs on others. I think it’s totally unfair of people to dictate to people whether or not they can or should have an epidural

  • I’m surprised they were so against having one, I had one with each bid my kids.
