my sister in law is having marriage problems with her husband who is my husbands brother and i want to help but how can i be supportive and stay neutral. she even stayed with us for days in between Christmas and new year.
they have a gorgeous 16 month old baby who i think is suffering because of this but again i try to stay neutral as much as possible. mostly she seems to want to bitch about her husband which is also the only thing he ever want to do about her. it can get very awkward.

  • Also; make sure you take good care of yourself; it can be emotionally draining being a support for people. :)

  • yeah they will work it out either way and counselling is a great option to help them work out where their relationship is heading. It will give them an unbiased guide as well

  • yeah i have watched a friend go through this where her son is fighting with his baby mother and she won’t let him see his kid. my friend wants to give the child presents but can’t see her grandchild and she is upset. especially with christmas. the baby’s mother won’t co-operate for the baby’s sake. so sad because the child is the innocent victim.

  • Staying neutral is best, but difficult! Could you steer them to counselling?

    • I agree; very difficult. Counselling is a good idea. Good Luck!
