Hello!

I attended a seminar about meal planning and food additives by Louise D’Allura of Meal Planning Your Way.

After being educated by Louise on food additives it is terrifying to now be aware of all the nasties that are in regular foods made for children.

Has anyone read or have copy of Additive Alert – your guide to safer shopping by Julie Eady? Just a regular mum who decided to do some research. Great read.

Studies have shown artificial food colourings can cause or worsen attention issues, eczema, asthma, gut problems, sleep issues and more! The UK and other countries have banned many artificial colours but not Australia. Even those supposedly healthy food wraps, which are great for school lunches, mostly contain nasty additives (such as the green Mission wraps that contain both blue and yellow food colouring). Peanut butter/paste possibly carcinogenic in humans! Any 160b in your pantry? Otherwise called the head banging natural colour food additive!

Amazing results from schools implementing Feingold Diet – academic results increased significantly over time, and children requiring learning support started to get it! All from change in diet. Have you tried Failsafe to eliminate food additives? Or FedUp?

Louise recommended and I downloaded a great free app to help understand food additives – Allergy Alert – because not all additives are nasty but its good to know the ones that are.

Would love to see more companies offering foods containing no nasty additives, and healthier school lunches (from parents and tuckshops).

  • They are a nasty little addition to so many packaged foods today. As is sugar and to a lesser extent, salt and bad fat. You really need to study food labels to get an idea of what you’re really eating

  • I always try and read the labels…when I’ve got the time.

  • I have read the book and made my own chart which I keep on my phone so when I am shopping I know what to avoid.
