Hello!

I started my first day of volunteer work for the salvation army yesterday and loved it, the ladies were all very sweet and welcoming. All interested in seeing photos of my daughter and feeding me up with tea cookies and chocolate cake. It was such a great change from the usual mummy duties that fill my day, the adult interaction alone was well needed. I have always been a donator to the salvos, giving my unneeded clothes, books household goods etc. I just wanted to ask everyone out there who donates to please wash your clothes before bringing them in and if there broken, ripped or stained throw them out.

  • It is so true , people still pay for the goods and is respectful to give good quality goods .

  • Some people have no idea when it comes to donations. They use it as a way to get rid of their unwanted junk! On a positive, it gives you something to do that you love, sorting thru it all

  • I always wash and check my clothes/household items before donating. Although some clothes, that are past there wearing date, I still donate as rags. This is ok isn’t it.

  • I find that with volunteer work you feel that you get more out of it than you put in. Thanks for the message. I will take heed to your advice before I next donate.
