  • Some hospitals will actually give you a list with suggestions on it. It depends how long you are going to be in hospital and the procedure you are having what you may want to take with you to amuse yourself. If you like reading take a couple of books with you – not too heavy as your arms can get tired quickly when you’re not feeling well. Once when I was in hospital for a few days I actually took some simple knitting with me. Small beanies – I didn’t do much but it filled some time in otherwise I would have been bored.

  • I’m such a coffee snob I take in my own coffee machine! I’d also recommend your own pillow

    • Don’t think your allowed Damish! I agree though I wouldn’t drink instant if you paid me!

  • I find taking a packet of baby wipes saves you having to get up to wash your hands & freshen your face if you are unable to get up after the procedure.

  • Did you already have your procedure?

  • as a nurse, def your own pillow! don’t bring too many valuables

  • also lip gloss so your lips do not dry out if your are going to be in more than just a day stay… due to the heating in the hospital..

  • your phone chager, just incase you want to call anyone, or get bored and want to use the internet to read the news tc .. lots of hospitals have free wifi so have fun…

  • A notebook and pen in case you want to take notes on anything the doctors say. A phone (and charger). Mini toiletry kit. Socks and a cardigan (hospitals are cold). Don’t take more than $5 and minimise valuables.

  • Great idea to bring your own soaps, shampoos etc. I would never have thought of that!

  • I would take a book ;-) my phone, the iPod with the earphones so I can listen to my favourite music. And my colouring book with colour pencils and sharpener.
    Success!

  • I think your own healthy snacks.. nuts, fruit, etc… since getting better also depends on eating well and giving your body the nutrition it needs… maybe google what might help recovery in your situation. Hospitals can only do so much with their food… and even if you are just quelling hunger it doesn’t always come when you want it.

  • Your own pillow! I like puzzles, so I took puzzle books. Maybe some healthy snack foods. To be honest, when I stayed in hospital, I didn’t feeling doing anything much. I just wanted to go home. So I rested and concentrated on getting better
