Hello!

I am a mum of two amazing and happy kids that play and laugh. They are growing nicely and have the normal ups and downs and bits and bobs that kids have… Well as far as I knew! My son had been attending home day care once a week just as a change of pace and a day for mummy but coming up to him going to school I placed him in a very nice Kindy with the nicest staff good routine great food and he seemed very happy! He was shy and wouldn’t talk which is ok he is a little one in a new place and I had no intention of putting pressure on him so early. So a week goes by nothing another week nothing, no yes no no. He would no even shake his head!! Yet at home with his sister and at the home daycare he would laugh talk ask questions! I was beside myself I didn’t want to make a deal of it but I wanted to encourage him as well! Still nothing 3 months had gone by and I was starting to worry my self silly so I finally contacted a phsycoligist and we have been having sessions every week, and as he has ow started at a c&k I am happy to say that each week we are getting more and more talking at school! I had not heard of anything like this before and it is hard to understand when he is a very loud noisy child at home, but had some anxiety in some situations which is easily helped but must be very scary for them! So yes too shy might very well be too shy!

  • You have done the right thing – acting early and calmly is a good approach.

  • I wet my pants in class, in grade 1 because I was too shy to put my hand up,and ask if I could go to the toilet. That’s too shy :(
