Hello!

I’ve written down 14 different activities that I can do in under half an hour, either at or near home (like walking the dog, gardening, tidying the garage, yoga, washing the car, ride the bike, read a book, dance to some music, give myself a facial, etc). I’ve written each of them on a small piece of paper, scrunched them up and put them in a glass bowl. Every morning I take one out and that is my definite ” to do” activity for that day. The paper for that day goes in another bowl, ready for the next fortnight. So no two days are the same, I never get bored because it’s a surprise every day to find out what I’m going to do, and then at the end of 2 weeks, the papers go back in the original bowl & I’m ready for another 2 weeks of activity. It keeps me motivated & there are a few activities that are just “relaxing me time” so that it’s not all hard work. As much as I’m an organized person, when it comes to exercising and doing work around the home, I can procrastinate until the cows come home. This is my way to motivate and spoil myself without getting bored.

  • That’s a really good idea! For me it’s about getting up and going early and changing it too. Walking to a different park in our area with my son, or going for a swim when I get a chance alone.

  • What an excellent idea. I might try this with an exercise plan. Using different work outs for each day. Then I don’t have to choose, can’t cheat and won’t get bored. Love it

  • Today was a nasty cold day, not conducive to do anything outside. Maybe luck was on my side, because when I pulled my daily activity idea out of the bowl this morning, I got two pieces of paper stuck together, and they were “Give yourself a facial” and “Read a book”. Naughty of me, but I did both. And it felt sooooooooooo good, especially because I turned the phone off too.

  • If you wanted to, you could change this a wee bit and get everyone in the family to write down some activities that they love doing together. Then you could have each person choose a random activity for the family to do. It would save arguments like “Oh we never do what I want”, as everyone would get the chance to do things they like.
