I am keen to learn about investments & shares as I have watched shows about finance. Do other mums have investments & shares? How did you get started?

  • basic and easy way to get in is by getting a commsec acc. start with $2000 and go from there. many online tools where you “pretend buy” stocks and see what you would make using real market info. great way to learn and play around with it all before risking real world money.

  • My parents opened a term deposit account for me when I was born. They let me have it when I turned 21. A total sum of $200. I hope you have a better return with your investments

  • I never did. It looks too complicated to me but probably it’s not.

  • Blue chip shares have been good to me. Bought pre children and have dividend reinvestment. Do your research though.

  • Go to the library, and borrow some “starter guides” to shares and investing. Once you have an overview, you’ll have a better idea of what questions to ask.

    • Good suggestion to resource the library – the ‘ Dummies’ guides are always good, I have used the ‘Dummies Guides’ for other things.
