Hello!

A friend of mine had left her 3 year old and 18 month old with her 65 year old mother for the day. Whilst out walking in a hilly park area the three year old was acting-up and threw a stick right at the baby. So the granny rushed over to the three year old to stop her. In the meantime the buggy rolled away behind her, right down the hill and off a fair drop into a stream. When the Granny got to the edge of the drop the buggy (and baby) were face down in the murky water! Within a minute or so a passerby jumped in and pulled the baby out. The baby was breathing but blue. Thanking the Rescuer the Granny took the kids home for a warm bath. My friend never took the child to have them checked,!!! Please tell me I am not the only one who would’ve had the child straight to the local accident and emergency dept!?

  • I definitely would have taken the baby to have his/her lungs checked to make sure she hadn’t inhaled or drunk the water. It can cause secondary drowning……..or pneumonia.

  • Wow, after it is like a scene from a movie. Glad the children are alright. Offending a grandparent is better than not getting your child checked.

  • I would definitely take the baby to hospital just to be safe but its really hard for grandparents they do their best just always take their age into consideration :)

  • Thanks ladies! Just to say bub was fine in the end. But I still believe they should’ve checked him out! What if he’d had secondary drowning!!? Doesn’t bare thinking about!

    • So pleased that the bub in fine, sounds like quick recovery of the pass byer saved him.

  • Oh my ..I do hope bub is well and OK. I have to agree a trip to the ER or Doc’s would be a must and although I do believe the granny was probably upset and shocked I feel that she should have taken bub to the ER.

  • Definitely have the child checked out, my ex boss’s child fell into a pool & was only seconds getting the child out & he suffered brain damage for the lack of oxygen to the brain.
